WHO? Great Harwood’s Riaz, 19, has been been boxing since the age of seven and has fought at clubs across the North West including Blackburn with Darwen Police ABC, and has worked under coaches Bert Myers and Yaqoob Hussain.
IN THE PAKISTAN TEAM? He is attempting to get in to the Pakistan team. Riaz won gold at the recent National Championships in Peshawar. Has been invited to their Olympic trials in Kazakhstan from April 4-13.
MEDAL? The confident teenager is considered an outside bet for a medal in the 69kg class, although he still has to come through the trials in Kazakhstan.
QUOTE: I have worked very hard for this opportunity and I am extremely confident in my own ability. My aim is to win the Pakistan boxing trials and go to the Olympics and try and win that as well.
