RYAN Lowe re-opened his Bury account last night with a first goal since returning for a second spell at the club after signing from Tranmere in the summer.

The 35-year-old striker, who scored 53 goals in 100 games for the Shakers before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in August, 2011, grabbed the opener from the penalty spot against Spanish side CD Marino at the club’s Tenerife training camp.

He then picked up two assists as strike partner Danny Nardiello stretched Bury’s advantage to 4-0 with a hat-trick, before the pair were subbed early in the second half.

Manager David Flitcroft moved swiftly to pull his more senior players out of harm’s way as their local opponents resorted to kicking out.

But one of their replacements, physio Tom Walsh, took his chance to show the professionals how it is done with two impressive strikes before Tom Soares scored Bury’s seventh and final goal.

CD Marino did manage to get on the scoresheet, taking advantage of a slip from new goalkeeper Shwan Jalal in the penalty box to slot home a late consolation.

Bury will play their first pre-season match at the JD Stadium on Wednesday when they host neighbours Blackburn Rovers, kick off 7.45pm.
