OSCAR winner Danny Boyle has been presented with another gong — this time from his favourite football team.
The Radcliffe-born director was given the Jameson Empire Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Film on Sunday night in recognition of the astounding success of his hit film, Slumdog Millionaire.
Despite already picking up a collection of Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes for the film, this award was extra special for Danny as it was presented by a host of Shakers stars.
Bury FC manager Alan Knill, captain Paul Scott and striker Andy Bishop were invited to attend the glittering Empire awards ceremony in London to hand over the gong.
And Knill told the audience: “We don’t have a big crowd of celebrity supporters, but if you’re going to have one, let’s have the coolest: Danny Boyle.”
Slumdog Millionaire itself was ineligible for any of the categories this year because it was released after the dates for entry.
