Bolton's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a wait of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week.

Each evening from midnight to 11.59pm up to May 31, there will be slight delays of up to ten minutes on the M61 southbound between junction five and six.

This is due to a hard shoulder closure for drainage works.

A further four closures will begin over the next two weeks.

From this evening, May 9 to May 11, there will be road closures from 9pm to 5am each evening on the M61 southbound between junction five and six.

This is due to a lane closure for permanent lane closure for barrier works.

From 8pm May 13 to 5am May 14, there will be slight delays on the M61 southbound between junction three and four.

This is due to a lane closure for the erection of signs.

Finally, from 8pm May 13 to 6am May 14 there will be moderate delays of between 10 and 30 minutes on the M61 northbound between junction four and five.

This is due to lane closures and slip road closures for inspection and survey works on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
