A road has been closed after a barn fire which took four fire engines to put out.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue were called to a fire on Ringley Road West in Radcliffe just before 2.30pm today (Friday, March 15).

Firefighters from Wigan, Farnworth, and Whitefield stations worked to put out the blaze, and remained on the scene hours later.

No injuries have been reported.

Traffic service INRIX reports that A667 Ringley Road West is now blocked.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the road has been closed from the junction with Prestolee Road in the west, with officers called to assist just before 3pm.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At shortly before 2.30pm today, four fire engines from Wigan, Farnworth and Whitefield fire stations were called to reports of a fire involving a barn.

“Firefighters are using three jets, two hose reels, and a handheld jet to extinguish the fire. Crews remain at the scene to make the area safe.”

North West Ambulance Service was notified about the fire but was not required to attend.
