Actress Helen Flanagan made an embarrassing blunder on a popular BBC quiz show that aired last night.

The Bury-born former Coronation Street star appeared on The Weakest Link on Saturday and was asked a question regarding the White Cliffs of Dover.

Host Romesh Ranganathan asked Helen the question: “In geology, the White Cliffs of Dover are principally formed of what substance, chalk or cheese.”

Helen went with the wrong answer of cheese and it produced several mocking comments on social media.

One person on X said: “Helen Flanagan just had the option chalk or cheese about what the white cliffs of Dover were made of... Guess her answer.”

Another X user said: “Helen Flanagan thinks that the White Cliffs of Dover are made from cheese. Not chalk but actual cheese.”

Within the first five minutes of the show, she answered three wrong answers and was voted by everyone as The Weakest Link.

Helen, who went to St John’s Primary School in Bromley Cross and Westholme School in Blackburn, is known for her appearances in Coronation Street where she played Rosie Webster.

The actress also starred in the ITV series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here South Africa.

She said to Romesh: “It’s quite terrifying actually the pressure and you’ve got to think so quickly.”

After being voted out first she said: “It was the pressure, to be fair I think I got really difficult questions.

"All I heard was Dover, like Cornish so I just answered cheese.”

Also appearing on last night's celebrity The Weakest Link was B Gill, Kaye Adams, Davood Ghadami, Adam Pearson, Ivo Graham, Toyah Willcox and Jen Brister.

It was ultimately Kaye Adams who finished on top taking home £7,150 for her chosen charity of Home-start Glasgow North, which help promote the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age.
