Work is set to begin on a borough road next week as part of a four-year improvement plan.

The council has warned residents that road re-surfacing works on School Grove in Prestwich, will begin on Monday, February 19.

The work is set to be completed on Friday, March, 8.

The maintenance work comes from a £44,000 investment, which forms part of the council’s £30m highway investment strategy and the wider Let’s Do it For Bury plan.

The four-year programme of works is designed to ensure the surfaces of streets, roads and cul-de-sacs are high quality, durable and safe.

A council spokesperson said: “The existing carriageway at School Grove is in need of repair and is to be resurfaced as part of Bury Council’s £30m highway investment strategy.

“The total investment in the scheme is £44,720.

“The existing road surface will be mechanically removed and a new surface course will be laid.

“School Grove will be closed from 8am and 5pm during the works. Temporary diversion routes will be signed.”

The council says it will strive to maintain vehicular access to all businesses and properties during the work but warned access may be limited at certain times.

It was advised residents to put their bins out on 7am on their scheduled collection days to ensure they can be accessed by the refuge team.

More information about the works can be found on the council's website.
