A night of Northern soul music will be held this March in aid of a good cause.

Bury-based defibrillator charity, Restart the Heart, will be hosting the Northern soul, soul, and Motown fundraiser at Elton Vale Sports Club.

The night of entertainment will include live acts, a DJ, and supper, with funds raised going towards the life-saving work carried out by the charity.

Founder, Sarah Jones, said: “What better way to welcome in spring?

“You are helping us not only expand the coverage but also maintain our network of public defibrillators, ensuring they remain serviceable and ready for emergency use 24/7.

“You'll often see me with our valued crew of volunteers at fun days, exhibitions, out and about raising answering questions and awareness and teaching how to use this vital life-saving emergency equipment.”

One of the charity's defibrillators was used to save a man’s life last year in Greenmount after he collapsed in the street.

The cardiac arrest survivor said a Restart the Heart defibrillator had saved him despite his survival chances being one in 10.

Speaking about the work the charity continues to do, Sarah said: “Behind the scenes, there's still plenty to do, Andrew Luxton, the charity chairman, is regularly keeping the charity's heart beating and regularly services the network of defibs.

“We're now planning to ensure we have the funding and resources available to replace batteries and pads, even checking the little cabinet heaters that keep defibs at an optimal emergency ready status.”

To help raise the necessary funds, the charity will hold an evening of music at Elton Vale Sports Club on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Doors will be open from 7pm and tickets are priced at £20.
