Radcliffe: Off-road bikes destroy church grounds

At around 11.40am this morning (Tuesday) a white off-road bike was spotted on the grounds of St Thomas & St John Church on New Church Street doing doughnuts around the trees, churning up the land.

After the rider spotted officers, they sped off towards the nearby estate.

Officers also spotted another e-bike being driven dangerously in the pedestrianised area of the estate, at speed and with no consideration for the public.

If anyone has any information on where these bikes are or the drivers, please contact police immediately.

A spokesperson for GMP Bury South said: “The Radcliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are appealing for any information from the community regarding an incident this morning at approximately 11.40am, within the grounds of St Thomas & St John Church, New Church Street, Radcliffe.

“At the aforementioned time, NPT officers on foot patrol spotted a white off-road bike doing doughnuts around trees on the church grounds, churning up the land.

“After seeing officers, it evaded police by driving at speed towards the nearby estate.

“It is strongly believed this bike is being stored in the estate surrounding New Church Court, and that residents will know where it lives.

“Whilst conducting an area search for the bike, officers happened upon an emerald-green Surron e-bike driving dangerously in the pedestrianised area on the estate.

“The e-bike was being driven by a balaclava-clad yob driving at speed and without consideration for local residents.
