Six comedians and "Britain's funniest doctor" are set to showcase their talent at a festival in aid of a much-loved borough cause.
After a sell out event last year, the Bury Hospice Comedy Festival will return to Elton Liberal Club on New George Street on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.
Tickets have been "flying out the door" with just over 100 remaining for the festival, which will be hosted by hospice trustee Dr Kevin Jones, dubbed the "funniest doctor in medicine".
Kevin, who retired in June 2022 for the fourth time, was a well respected doctor who had hung up his stethoscope for a third time in 2020 but found himself back on call to help with the coronavirus vaccination programme.
He performs stand-up comedy, which has taken him from the Albert Halls in Bolton to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
He became a consultant physician at Bury General Hospital in 1990 before moving to the Royal Bolton Hospital in 1998 as the lead for acute medicine.
Having made a well-known name for himself, Kevin has retired and his wife, Liz Jones, has also retired from a GP practice in Bolton.
Kevin will be joined on stage by comedians Mick Miller, Nina Gilligan and Steve Royle on the first night, followed by Justin Moorhouse, Lea Roberts and Gary Marshall on the second.
Events fundraiser at the hospice, Dale Mulgrew, said: “After being so successful last year, we are pleased to have now expanded our annual comedy fundraiser into the 2024 Bury Hospice Comedy Festival.
"A superb line-up has been put together by the festival host and Bury Hospice trustee Dr Kevin Jones – named Britain’s funniest doctor.
“Tickets are flying out and we have just over 100 left over the entire weekend.

Tickets to the event are £25 and are strictly limited to the capacity of the venue.
On both nights, doors will open at 7pm and the show starting at 7.45pm.
