A popular Bury town centre bakery will be re-opening with a new look next month after temporarily closing for a ‘refresh’.

Greggs, at The Rock Shopping Centre, has been closed to customers as work begins to refurbish the popular pasty shop.

Work began on Friday, September 15, and is expected to last just over three weeks, reopening again with a 'refreshed' look on Saturday, October 7.

Hungry shoppers and fans of the British bakery will not have to travel too far however to get their fix of the chain's sweet and savoury foods.

From the store on the Rock, the Greggs at The Mall is around a five-minute walk and the Princess Parade store is around an eight-minute walk.

Following the closure of the shop on The Rock, a notice, posted in the store window reads: “Crumbs!

“Sorry, we’re closing for a refresh.

“We’ll be closed from 15/09 until 07/10.

“Your nearest shop is Millgate The Mall.”

Bury Times: Greggs, The Rock

The Rock Shopping Centre has recently seen several new stores opening including a Doner and Gyros diner and takeaway.

The venue opened on Saturday with customers queuing out of the door to get their hands on the Mediterranean-inspired food.

Another new addition to the shopping site will be the popular café chain, Starbucks.

The official opening date has not yet been confirmed but the store will be situated opposite Greggs and Sketchers and is expected to open this month.

It is the latest big-name brand to open at The Rock since the additions of Ann Summers, Kaspa’s Desserts, Shoe Zone and the first Vanilla store, a women's clothes store, in the North West.
