It’s located on Bolton Road West and is a firm favourite in the town.

One review said: “The homemade pies are outstanding and whopping portions too.

“Several choices of curry. Great fish chips. Fast and friendly service. What more do you need in a chippy.”

Another said: “After 14 months out of the country we decided on Fish and Chips for our first takeaway treat.

Chips Inn located in the Tottington/Walshaw area of Bury is rated 4.6 on Google reviews.

It’s on Church Street in Walshaw. One review said: “Amazing! They always are! Such a lovely couple who run this place and it's the best tasting chippy!

“I've even moved away from the area but still return each week. I'm never disappointed!”

Another review said: “Lived up the road from this chippy for about 20 years.

“It has changed hands a few times, but the food has never changed. The family who run it are amazing and the food is top notch.

Thompsons Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway – Bury

Thompsons chippy located on The Rock in Bury is rated 4.5 on Google reviews.

Established in 1972, Thompsons have been supplying fish and chips to the people of Bury for over 45 years.

One review said: “Food arrived quickly and nice and hot, has to be the best Fish and Chips in the whole of Manchester.

“Let alone Bury. Will definitely be ordering from here again.”

Another said: “Decided to dine in for our lunch, we had fish, chips, peas and slice of bread and cuppa tea each.

“It was all freshly cooked we didn't have to wait long for our meal, lovely family owned business very well run and impeccably very clean too.

“Enjoyed every moment of the lunch and it was very delicious. It’s a credit to the Rock and we hope it stays there for many years to come. I would definitely recommend trying it.”

Chips at No.8 – Prestwich

Chips at No.8 is rated 4.7 on Google reviews and recently was named in the top 50 chippy’s in the UKs Fry Awards.

For the last three years, Chips at No.8 on Clifton Road in Prestwich has made the top 50.

One review said: “Tried Chips at No.8 for the first time and I have to say it was one of the best chippy's we've had!

“Crispy batter and the fish was so succulent and fresh, the battered sausage and chips were a winner too.

“There was a big queue outside which was a good sign. Look forward to ordering from here again.”

White Fish – Unsworth

White Fish chippy located on Parr Lane in Unsworth is rated 4.6 on Google reviews.

All their chips are freshly prepared in house daily and one of their favourite sides are the homemade Onion Rings.

One review said: “I had a "regular" fish, chips and peas. The fish was enormous, everything cooked to perfection.

“Fish was better than any of the local restaurants.”

Another said: “Love White Fish and the fact there's always a queue tells me everyone else does too!

“It's well worth waiting for though, freshly cooked fish and tasty chips. 5 stars.”
