BUDDING vet Alyx Irwen could not contain her joy after opening her results envelope at Bury Grammar School for Girls last Thursday.
The 16-year-old, of Longsight Road, Bury, went straight for a hug with proud mum Lisa after learning she had achieved five A*s and five As in her GCSEs.
Alyx said: “I was really hoping for those results because I want to be a vet and really needed good grades, but wanting those grades and seeing them written down are two different things, so it is a massive relief. I started worrying after my exams because I realised that, during them, I didn’t feel stressed. But the worry just went away after I opened the envelope.
“I’m going to come back to the school’s sixth form and do biology, chemistry, maths and music.
“Bury Grammar is such a good school. The teachers had us so well prepared for the exams
“Veterinary medicine is a very competitive profession so I’m hopeful of choosing the right course when I finish my A-levels.”
