CCTV footage has captured the terrifying moment two hooded men with their faces covered carrying spades broke into a house in the early hours of the morning.

The footage captures them walking around the grounds of the house at 4.45am on Saturday in Cockey Moor Road, Ainsworth, before forcing their way into the house through a back door.

"We have had police and forensics at the house, and I have been speaking to local businesses to see if they have their CCTV has captured anything."

He added: "It is not a nice feeling when someone breaks into the property, you really feel for the girls.

"If anyone has any information then contact the police before it happens to anyone else.

"They were brazen at least 15 cars went past when they are at the house."

It is understood there have been a number of break-ins in the area.

"Police are aware of the situation and are actively seeking those, police are driving in the area late at night."
