FUNDRAISERS at Bury Hospice are hoping to brighten up the borough with their first ever colour run.

Hundreds of 'rainbow runners' are wanted to take part in the 5k event at Burrs Country Park on June 12, in which brightly-coloured powdered paint will be thrown at participants as they make their way around the course.

Anyone who registers before May 13 will benefit from an early bird discount price of £15. Entry after that will be £20, or £10 for children under 16.

The top fundraiser for the event, which forms part of the hospice's 25th anniversary celebrations, will win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.

Michelle King, the hospice's community and events fundraiser, said: "We have never had anything like this before in Bury and I hope that a lot of people come out and support the event.

"I know these runs have been really popular elsewhere and this will be a great way to celebrate the hospice's 25th anniversary. Bury Hospice is for Bury people, so it’s only fitting that they are central to our celebrations."
