HAVING their cake — and eating it.

That's youngsters Holly Jones and Katie Brooks who emerged as the winners of a Design a Cake competition to help The Rock celebrate its fifth anniversary.

The Bury Times featured the the competition entries from hundreds of youngsters from across the borough who wanted to wish The Rock a very happy birthday.

Katie, aged five, of Elton Primary School, was the winner in the four-to-seven age group. And Holly, aged eight, of Hazlehurst Community Primary School, was the winner in the eight-to-11 age group.

Their winning designs were made into cakes by Radcliffe-based Brooke’s Cupcakes, and they were presented to the youngsters. Each also received a £50 toy voucher from The Entertainer store at The Rock.

Linzi Atkinson, The Rock's marketing and tenant liaison manager, said: "“We were delighted to work with the Bury Times on our design a cake competition and were overwhelmed by the number of entries we received from local schoolchildren. It was a great way to mark our fifth birthday and the winning designs were made into two fabulous cakes for the winners to take home.”
