A STASH of drugs worth more than £1 million was found at the home of a Bury woman, a court heard.

Abia Din was arrested after cocaine and heroin, as well as drugs paraphernalia and ammunition, were seized from her house in Woodman Drive, in November last year.

Further searches of the house found 35 rounds of 9mm ammunition stored within a television cupboard.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and possession of ammunition and was jailed for five years and four months at Manchester Crown Court.

Mohammed Din, aged 42, of Arley Avenue, Bury, was also arrested after cocaine and £31,000 in cash was found at his home.

He was found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine and was jailed for nine years.

The pair were part of an organised crime group responsible for supplying Class A drugs across Salford and Manchester.

They were jailed along with nine other defendants, with the group jailed for a total of nearly 80 years.

Ch Supt Mary Doyle said: “This was a highly complex case that essentially involved three crime groups responsible for the distribution and movement of drugs.

“The strikes, as part of Project Gulf, were the end product of weeks of intelligence gathering by police officers in an effort to smash organised crime across the local and Greater Manchester area.

“Mohammed Din was top of the final group alongside Abia Din.

“Organised criminality causes misery for ordinary people going about their lawful business. It causes fear and intimidation and I would urge anyone who believes they have information about those involved in organised crime to contact police. As always, the information you supply will be dealt with privately and confidentially.”

Anyone with information about drug dealing can pass it directly to police on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
